About this document
Valproate-Induced Chorea Case Study by Stefanus Alexander is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This case report describes a 38-year-old man who developed generalized chorea after two months of taking 1500 mg/day of valproate to treat his partial and secondary generalized seizures. His choreiform movements resolved completely two months after stopping the valproate. The report suggests that a history of head trauma and concurrent use of other antiepileptic drugs may increase the risk of developing valproate-induced choreiform movements.
